The Baltimore Ravens and Lamar Jackson have been unable to come to a contractual agreement.

While the details between the two parties remain to be seen, it appears that there are two options.

The Ravens could either franchise tag Jackson or sign him to a long-term extension.

Throughout this process, many members of NFL media have expressed what they believe the Ravens should do.

Recently, Stephen A. Smith pitched in his ideas for the Ravens regarding this situation.

In Smith’s opinion, Jackson’s availability is a problem, which is why he should shy away from a fully guaranteed deal.

Smith says he is worth $50 million per year and he would give him a $200 million guaranteed deal.

When healthy, Jackson is one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL.

His unique combination of arm talent and elusive rushing abilities is something to behold, and he won the league MVP award in 2019.

However, Jackson has also missed significant time over the past two seasons due to injuries.

He was unable to start for the Ravens in the playoffs this year because of injury, which could be fresh in the mind of the higher-ups in the Ravens’ organization.

Because of his lack of availability, the franchise tag might be the most logical course of action for the Ravens.

If Jackson can stay healthy during the 2023 season and play similarly to his MVP season, the Ravens are much more likely to sign him to a long-term extension.

Under Jackson, the Ravens have a winning record.

He has been a valuable member of their organization thus far and looks to be for the foreseeable future as well.
