NFL Analyst Says Giants Have An Easy Decision With Daniel Jones

The New York Giants are entering a very difficult offseason.

They have two of their most important players set for contract extensions, and they must find out what to do.

Both quarterback Daniel Jones and running back Saquon Barkley need new contracts.

It appears that Jones is looking for a massive contract extension, upwards of $45 million per year.

One of the options the Giants could choose is to franchise tag Jones.

This option would pay him around $32 million for next season.

Fox Sports analyst Nick Wright thinks that is the only decision the Giants can make.

The Giants’ decision is easy. Franchise tag Daniel Jones:

Jones has not shown to be an elite passer and is mostly a game manager at this point in his career.

Giants head coach Brian Daboll deserves plenty of credit for the development of Jones.

He took what Jones does best (run the ball) and add that more into his game.

Jones has done nothing to show that he deserves the $45 million he might be asking for.

Last season he threw for 3,205 yards and 15 touchdowns.

Those are not the stats you expect to see from a franchise QB.

New York is in a terrible spot.

If they choose not to sign Jones they have no other quarterback option.

But, paying him too much money could mortgage their future for years to come.

Not to mention Saquon Barkley is also seeking a large contract extension this offseason.

Paying Jones top-10 quarterback money would be a massive mistake, and the Giants are best served to let him walk in free agency.
