The Minnesota Vikings made a tough decision regarding their roster on Friday.

After nine seasons with the team, wide receiver Adam Thielen was released.

He has been a very good receiver throughout his career.

In those nine years, he had 534 receptions for 6,682 yards and 55 touchdowns.

Thielen made many big plays for the Vikings and was a key part of their 2019 NFC Championship team.

Also, the wide receiver is one of the most widely respected players in the league.

His journey to the NFL was anything but normal as he came to the league as an undrafted player from Minnesota State.

Vikings GM Kwesi Adofo-Mensah had some nice words to say about Thielen upon his release.

This was a move the Vikings felt like they had to make.

It will free up plenty of cap space for them, plus Thielen is on the back nine of his career.

The receiver will be entering his age-33 season next year, and his cap hit was close to $20 million.

Now as the veteran heads to free agency, it will be interesting to what teams show interest.

Despite his age, Thielen was able to play in all 17 games last year and caught 70 passes.

There is no doubt he can still be a contributor on a championship-level team.

Thielen is one of the most well-respected players in the league.

He should land on his feet somewhere, even if it is only for a one-year deal.
