The Detroit Lions have playoff expectations for the 2023 season.

They shocked most of the NFL by finishing with a 9-8 record last season.

Missing the playoffs by one game was something that almost nobody saw coming.

One of the reasons for their success in 2022 was an elite scoring offense.

Detroit was fifth in the NFL for points per game with 26.6 points per game.

Quarterback Jared Goff had a big season, including a trip to the Pro Bowl.

He threw for 4,438 yards and 29 touchdowns and it seems like Goff will be QB of the future in Detroit.

But, where the Lions struggled was on the defensive side.

They gave up 25.1 points per game, which was the third most in the NFL.

But, they are trying to fix their defense in free agency this year.

According to Ian Rapoport, the Lions have signed cornerback Cam Sutton to a three-year deal.

Sutton has spent the first six seasons of his career as a member of the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Last season he played in 16 games and had 3 interceptions with 15 passes defended.

This is a move that will immediately help their pass defense.

Sutton is entering his age-28 season and has shown to be a reliable player throughout his career.

Keep an eye on the Lions as they continue to improve their roster this offseason.

Depending on what happens with Aaron Rodgers, the Lions might enter next year as favorites to win the NFC North.

The Lions also have two top-18 draft picks that they will use to load up on players.
