The Las Vegas Raiders had a disappointing year in 2022, finishing the season with a 6-11 record.

Derek Carr has been released, leaving the Raiders to find a new quarterback to take his place.

Despite team-wide struggles last year, however, the Raiders had an exciting bright spot on offense.

Josh Jacobs led all RBs in:

– PFF Grade (91.6)
– Rushing yards (1,653)
– First down runs (94)
– Missed tackles forced on runs (90 – PFF Record)

Josh Jacobs had a tremendous 2022 NFL campaign.

2022 marked career highs for Jacobs in rushing attempts, rushing yards, rushing touchdowns, and receiving yards.

This was Jacobs’ fourth NFL season, his last on his contract with the Raiders.

In a contract year, he certainly put the league on notice.

Not only did Jacob eclipse his career highs in nearly every statistical category, but he was a league leader as well.

Jacobs had the highest PFF rating among all running backs, garnering a rating of 91.6.

This grade ranked him as the 10th-best player in the league in 2022, according to PFF.

Jacobs also led the NFL in rushing yards, missed tackles, and first-down runs.

One item of note is that Jacobs’ 90 missed tackles were the most that PFF has graded in their history, as well.

Jacobs provided a masterclass performance in 2022.

He demonstrated that, in the year that your contract will end, it is vital to play your best football in order to get a second contract.

For running backs, a second multi-year contract in the NFL is a sign that you are an elite rusher, given the demands that the league asks of its players.

Will Jacobs find himself back on the Raiders in 2023?

Or, will another team take a chance on him after his elite 2022 campaign?
