Pending Lions Free Agent Makes His Thoughts Clear On What He Wants

The Detroit Lions were one of the most surprising teams in the NFL in 2022.

Under Dan Campbell’s leadership, the Lions finished the season at 9-8.

Had it not been for a Seattle Seahawks victory on the last day of the season, the Lions would have made the playoffs.

This is a roster that is on the rise and is likely to continue its success into 2023.

Because of the extreme organizational shift, many players and coaches have expressed an interest in staying with the team, including John Cominsky.

Cominsky is coming off his fourth NFL season, and his first on the Lions.

He was claimed on waivers by the Lions during the 2022 offseason and ended up being an impactful player on their defensive front.

While his numbers don’t necessarily jump off the page, his 30 total tackles and four sacks were both career highs for Cominsky.

If the Lions do decide to bring Cominsky back, their defense will benefit.

Last year, the Lions drafted Aiden Hutchinson, who proved to be a force to be reckoned with, totaling 52 tackles, three interceptions, and 9.5 sacks.

With Hutchinson as their core building block, having a veteran like Cominsky on the roster should help aid in his development.

Ahead of April’s draft, the Lions hold the sixth, 18th, 48th, and 59th overall picks.

This draft has been said to be deep on the defensive side of the ball, which is good news for the Lions.

With any luck, they will be able to add to their defensive line, a unit that struggled beyond Hutchinson and Cominsky last year.
