Aaron Rodgers has put the Green Bay Packers in a tough spot again.
But it seems like GM Brian Gutekunst had been planning for this scenario for quite some time now, which is why he took Jordan Love in the first round of the 2020 NFL Draft.
Once a shocking pick — and one that prompted plenty of criticism, given the Packers’ needs and Aaron Rodgers’ presence — Love might as well be the team’s savior right now.
Rodgers is reportedly considering leaving Lambeau Field for the first time in his career, and if that happens, the team has full confidence in his replacement.
Gutekunst said Jordan Love is “absolutely” ready to be a starter and they’ve been in regular communication with him and his agent about what’s happening.

Gutekunst recently said that Love and his camp have made it 100% clear that he’s ready to take the helm of the offense and be the starting quarterback next season if needed.
However, he’s shown exactly the opposite in limited playing time since entering the league, throwing for 606 yards on a 60.2% completion percentage and a 79.7 passer rating with three touchdowns and three interceptions.
The former 26th overall pick was taken 27 picks ahead of Jalen Hurts, yet he didn’t exactly impress in college or show any sort of skill that would make scouts think that he was going to be an NFL star.
His ceiling seems to be quite low, and the transition from a Hall of Famer quarterback isn’t always smooth.
However, we all said and thought the same thing about Rodgers when he took over Brett Favre, so there’s always a small chance history repeats itself, and he’ll be the team’s marquee player.
