NFL Insider Reveals A Major Evan Engram Update

The Jacksonville Jaguars were one of the surprise teams this past NFL season.

They went from worst to first in the AFC South thanks to a plethora of smart offseason moves.

First and foremost the addition of head coach Doug Pederson made a major impact.

Pederson is a former Super Bowl-winning head coach, and he brought the best out of quarterback Trevor Lawrence.

One of Lawrence’s favorite weapons to throw to this past season was tight end, Evan Engram.

The former New York Giant signed with the Jags last offseason at a discounted price.

He ended up having a career year in 2022, catching 73 passes for 766 yards and four touchdowns.

Now that Engram is set to enter free agency, the team has no plans on letting him go.

If both sides can not come to an agreement on a new contract the Jags will reportedly use the franchise tag on the tight end according to Adam Schefter.

Jaguars are expected to place the franchise tag on TE Evan Engram, per source. The tight end franchise tag is $11.345 million.

Jacksonville needs to continue building around Lawrence.

So giving him all the weapons possible is a great way to do that.

Other than Engram, the Jaguars still have Christian Kirk and Zay Jones.

Both of which flourished with Lawrence last year.

The Jaguars will only go as far as Lawrence can take them.

He was expected to be the next great NFL quarterback when drafted, and he showed flashes of that last year.

After losing in the divisional round to the Kansas City Chiefs, it will be interesting to see if the Jags can take it a step further in 2023.
