After starting the 2022 season 7-4, the New York Jets went down the drain, ending the season with a six-game losing streak and missing the playoffs.

They have a huge hole at the quarterback position, and they’re reportedly being aggressive in trying to fill that hole, as they’ve been speaking to Derek Carr, who is now a free agent after being released by the Las Vegas Raiders.

ESPN NFL reporter Dianna Russini says the Jets have some serious interest in Carr, but that perhaps Aaron Rodgers is an even bigger priority.

The New York Jets are really interested in Derek Carr. Nothing but positive reviews, per sources. Now they wait for Aaron Rodgers to emerge from the darkness and inform the Packers of his plans. The Jets will be speaking to Green Bay about a trade IF the Packers are willing

Fans and analysts seem split on whether Carr or Rodgers would be the better option for New York, especially since Rodgers is 39 years of age and would likely cost the team a considerable amount of draft capital.

His numbers dipped somewhat in 2022, but many feel he is still a very viable quarterback, even if he isn’t an elite one anymore.

Rodgers’ relations with the Green Bay Packers have become strained over the last couple of years, and many feel he has already played his last game for the storied franchise.

Meanwhile, Carr had more of a down year than Rodgers did, but some attribute it to the poor offensive line the Raiders had.

Las Vegas was supposed to be a Super Bowl contender in the minds of many, but went just 6-11, as they blew multiple big leads and lost several close games.

With a strong defense and a stud wide receiver in Garrett Wilson, who was just named Offensive Rookie of the Year, perhaps Carr or Rodgers would get the Jets back to the playoffs for the first time since 2010.
