NFL Insider Gives The Latest Update On Jameis Winston’s Future

Not so long ago, NFL scouts thought Jameis Winston had all the tools to become a superstar.

His athleticism was impressive, his arm strength was off the charts, and his physicality and mobility made him a guy that multiple teams would’ve loved to get.

But he was never able to find the consistency or maturity to make the most of those impressive traits, and his days as a starter might be a thing of the past now.

Winston was expected to take over for Drew Brees and be the New Orleans Saints’ QB of the future.

He then got hurt and lost his job to the lesser Andy Dalton.

And now that Derek Carr has signed with the team, it’s become evident that he’s not going to take any of the first-team snaps.

However, ESPN’s Diana Russini recently reported that the Saints would actually welcome Winston back if he wants.

The New Orleans Saints have offered QB Jameis Winston a restructured deal to stay,  per sources. Winston has until Wednesday to accept the offer because of the start of the league year or he will be released.

They asked him to restructure his deal to stay with the team, citing that he’ll have until the start of the new league year on March 15 to make up his mind.

Should Winston refuse, then he’d be released and become an unrestricted free agent who could negotiate with any other team.

Notably, Winston is still quite young and could be an upgrade for a couple of QB-needy teams, such as the Carolina Panthers, or even his former team Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

But maybe, it would be best for him to just stay put and stay in New Orleans, as he’s not likely to gauge a lot of interest somewhere else at this point.
