The San Francisco 49ers will have a quarterback controversy on their hands this season.

But, that will not happen until Brock Purdy can return from injury.

The breakout player in the NFL last year suffered an elbow injury in the NFC Championship game.

According to Mike Garafolo, Purdy had successful surgery on his elbow.

He is expected to begin throwing in three months.

For being the last pick in the draft, Purdy did something that we rarely see.

He was the third-string quarterback to start the year for the 49ers, but was relied on to help them win games late in the year.

49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan built the offense to Purdy’s strengths, and he was able to thrive.

Some fans have very high expectations for the 49ers next season.

It first seemed like this injury would hold Purdy out close to six months.

But, the updated timetable of three months should give him a chance to compete for the starting job in training camp.

Purdy will be entering a completion with the former third-overall pick Trey Lance.

He played in only two games last season before suffering a broken ankle.

But, it appears that some 49ers fans think the future of the organization belongs to Purdy.

The shortened recovery timetable should give 49ers fans a chance to see Purdy in training camp.

His second season will tell us a lot about his long-term outlook as an NFL quarterback.

Great news, especially for a 3 month recovery date

The 49ers quarterback battle will be one of the most enticing things to watch once training camps open in July.
