The Detroit Lions finished the 2022 season in a position that few could have predicted.

Despite a poor start to the year, the Lions ended up with a 9-8 record to close out the 2022 campaign.

Had it been for a Seattle Seahawks loss in the final weeks of the season, the Lions would have made the playoffs for the first time since 2016.

While Jared Goff played well for the Lions, the team might still be on the prowl for a new quarterback.

Ahead of the NFL Combine, GM Brad Holmes commented, saying: “We just want to add good football players to fit the culture.”

Could the @Lions draft a QB in the first round?

Holmes has been the GM of the Lions for two seasons.

He was instrumental in acquiring Dan Campbell as the team’s head coach and was responsible for an impressive 2022 draft.

Leading their 2022 draft class was Aidan Hutchinson, a defensive end who made an immediate impact on the Lions’ defensive front.

While he didn’t win, Hutchinson was a nominee for the Defensive Rookie of the Year award, an accomplishment in its own right.

In the 2023 draft, the Lions hold the sixth and 18th overall picks.

This incoming draft class has several standout quarterback options, and the Lions could elect to take a quarterback, should the right player be available.

Goff is only signed through the 2024 season, but the team can opt out of his contract after the 2023 season.

If they do end up drafting a rookie quarterback, Goff’s veteran presence could aid in their development, setting the franchise up for a bright future.
