Jimmy Garoppolo’s NFL career has been muddled with various ups and downs.

He was drafted by the New England Patriots in the second round of the 2014 draft but mainly served as a backup for Tom Brady.

After his time in New England, Garoppolo was traded to the San Francisco 49ers, starting a total of 50 regular season games.

Garoppolo also holds a 4-2 record as a starter in the playoffs.

Now, the 49ers have been said to move on from Garoppolo, given the emergence of youngsters Trey Lance and Brock Purdy.

After this news surfaced, Garoppolo has been linked to multiple quarterback-needy teams across the league.

Garoppolo is just 31 years old, and, assuming he moves on from the 49ers, should have plenty of viable suitors.

According to a recent update from Albert Breer of Sports Illustrated, “Garoppolo may be willing to sign a contract with a lower base salary that includes incentives that could get him close to $25 million annually.”

Update: #49ers QB Jimmy Garoppolo is seeking more than $25 million per year in free-agency, according to @AlbertBreer

Garoppolo has extensive playoff experience, and his veteran leadership could help a struggling team.

His reported asking price of $25 million per year is similar to what other quarterbacks in the market have commanded.

Recently, Derek Carr signed a new contract with the New Orleans Saints, where he is slated to make nearly $40 million per year.

While Carr is a veteran himself, he doesn’t have the playoff experience of Garoppolo.

Garoppolo is coming off of a foot injury that he suffered in 2022, which could be a cause for concern from a potential suitor.
