Jets Insider Shares Hope After Derek Carr’s Decision

It’s been a wild day for the New York Jets and their fans.

First, Jeremy Fowler reported that Derek Carr was leaning towards signing with them over the New Orleans Saints and Carolina Panthers.

Then, the news broke that Carr was planning to sign with the Saints.

That emotional roller-coster is just another example of how bad the Jets have had it as of late.

However, Jets insider Rich Cimini thinks this could’ve been a blessing in disguise for the team, as it’ll now allow them to focus all their attention on Aaron Rodgers.

Carr would’ve been a solid add for the #Jets, but he’s not in Rodgers’ league from a short-term perspective. Carr is a mid-level starter; Rodgers would raise the Jets’ ceiling higher than Carr would have.

Cimini pointed out the fact that Rodgers would raise the team’s ceiling right away and make them instant Super Bowl contenders, citing that he’s a better option for the short term.

Of course, every single team would choose the future first-ballot Hall of Famer over the mid-tier starting quarterback any day of the week, but Rodgers comes with other issues as well.

For starters, the Jets will need to meet the Green Bay Packers’ asking price for his services, not to mention losing assets and committing a lot of money.

Also, he’s not exactly known for being an easy-going kind of guy, and there are serious concerns about how he’d deal with the Jets’ young stars, and that’s also a factor to consider.

Last but not least, the Jets might not want to trade for a guy who may not even be available, as he has yet to announce his decision about his future in the league.
