The NFL season is officially over as teams start looking towards the offseason.

For the Chicago Bears, they spent the 2022-23 NFL season with a new general manager in Ryan Poles.

While people were glad to see him joining the team, his first season has given fans little to be happy with.

But are these fans correct in their judgement of him, or is it an overreaction by them?

Poles Gets A C+ For His First Season In Chicago

It was very hard to give Poles a C+ for his first season with the Bears.

However, his overall performance lands him here with an average grade.

First, fans need to examine his draft picks from 2022.

This is where Poles found himself some gems for the Bears franchise.

Players like Kyler Gordon, Jaquan Brisker, and Braxton Jones were all solid picks for the Bears.

We gonna talk about Braxton Jones the 5th round smash? PFF 10th best run block grade. 42nd out of 92 OTs with at least 200 blocking snaps. Brisker solid rookie szn as well. Kyler Gordon pick i’ll give a pass because rookie corners normally struggle so not surprised

However, his other draft picks weren’t that great.

While his draft day lands him a solid B+, his trade deals with players were questionable.

What he got for Khalil Mack and Roquan Smith was very little.

Trading Robert Quinn later in the season watered down his value after he was coming off an 18.5 sack season in 2021.

Spending their second-round pick on Chase Claypool, and not the Baltimore Ravens pick they had, also hurts his grade.

Had he never made these mistakes, he could have gotten a higher grade.
