Former NFL Star Has A Strong Opinion On The Lamar Jackson Situation

The Baltimore Ravens have made an interesting decision regarding their franchise quarterback.

It seemed like they were sold on Lamar Jackson being their quarterback of the future until it came time to pay him.

Instead of figuring out a long-term deal, the Ravens gave Jackson the non-exclusive franchise tag.

That allows every other team in the league to negotiate with Jackson.

But, if Jackson comes to a deal with another team the Ravens can match any offer.

Former NFL player Maurice Jones-Drew thinks any quarterback-needy team should pay Jackson whatever he wants to play for them.

Giving up two first-round picks along with handing out a fully-guaranteed contract is a lot.

However, at least you would be given a known commodity at the most important position.

Jackson is 26 years old and a former league MVP, he has proven to be a winning player in the league.

In his first five seasons, Jackson has a record of 45-16, he has never had a losing season as a starter.

The only issue with Jackson is his play style.

He is an elite dual-threat player that loves to utilize his legs.

But, that has caused him to get injured over the past two seasons.

Jackson has played exactly 12 games in each of the past two years.

He was even unavailable for the Ravens in the playoffs last season.

Even though his legs are a massive part of his game, he is still a great passer.

He led the NFL in passing touchdowns in 2019, and he can win games with his arm.

When it is all said and done the Ravens would be foolish to let their franchise star leave.
