Eagles Player Posts Cryptic Tweet Amid Contract Rumors

The Philadelphia Eagles have already lost way too much in the past couple of weeks.

First, they couldn’t beat Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs in the Super Bowl.

Then, they lost their top two assistants to Head Coach positions.

And now, it seems like they could also lose one of their best players and most prominent defensive figures.

CJ Gardner-Johnson recently hinted at a potential exit, likely waiving the city of Philadelphia goodbye on social media.

Even some Eagles players reacted to the post, and it all seemed like they already knew he was not coming back, which isn’t that surprising altogether.

The Eagles would love to keep a player like him on board, but he’s going to demand a steep salary, and money might be tight for their salary cap situation.

Instead, they would most likely try and keep Marcus Epps and Javon Hargrave, as both could be quite cheaper options.

Hargrave comes with age and durability concerns, but he’d solve a much bigger need for Nick Sirianni’s team than Gardner Johnson.

Gardner-Johnson is just 25 years old and is coming off an outstanding season, so there should be plenty of suitors waiting in line to make a run at him, which is another factor that could make it tough for the Eagles to keep him around.

As of now, it seems like the only way that could happen is if he were to take a big pay cut, and that doesn’t sound realistic for a guy his age.
