Dolphins Insider Pushes Back Against An Aaron Rodgers Narrative

Aaron Rodgers has been one of the most discussed players during the 2023 NFL offseason.

Recent reporting has linked Rodgers to the New York Jets, as several members of the organization met with him in California.

If Rodgers does go to the Jets, many have already declared that they are the favorites for the division.

However, one Miami Dolphins reporter suggested otherwise.

Dolphins Insider Marcel Louis-Jacques said that, if signed, Rodgers could be the third-best quarterback in the AFC East.

if he were to sign with the Jets, Aaron Rodgers might be the third best quarterback in the AFC East. even if you don’t agree, it’s at the very least worthy of a conversation

He’d be the best QB only by résumé, not current level of play https://t.co/LquuQu27wR

Louis-Jacques would rank Rodgers behind Josh Allen and Tua Tagovailoa, making him the third-best quarterback in the division.

He contends that Rodgers is no longer the player that he used to be.

During the 2022 season, Rodgers threw for 3,695 yards, 26 touchdowns, 12 interceptions, and a passer rating of 91.1.

This was the lowest yardage total in Rodgers’ career in seasons that he started at least 15 games.

His passer rating of 91.1 was also the lowest in his career as a starter, and his 12 interceptions were the second-most in his career.

Simply put, Rodgers’ production was markedly different in 2022 than it was in 2020 and 2021.

Rodgers is a four-time league MVP winner.

While some have contended that 2022 was just a down year for him, Louis Jacques alludes that he is on a downward spiral.

Allen has continued to improve as both a rusher and a passer, and before his concussions, Tagovailoa was on pace to have a fantastic year as well.

This narrative is ever-changing, and until Rodgers is officially on a new team, all of this information is speculative.

As Louis-Jacques says, however, it’s at least worthy of a conversation.
