The 2023 NFL Draft will likely be filled with many franchise-altering players.
With the combine well underway, many players have been able to improve their standing with NFL franchises due to their strong performances.
Although this is the case for many position groups, the wide receiver position has taken a giant step forward over the past several days.
One player, at least to former Minnesota Viking Cris Carter, has stood out among the rest.
When referencing Jaxon Smith-Njigba, Carter referenced that he will be the number one receiver in this class, which will be cemented on his pro day.
Don’t be fooled, this is WR1 in #NFLDraft2023 , that will be solidified on his ProDay when he runs a blazing 40 yd dash. https://t.co/2rEdDAEExF

Even though Smith-Njigba didn’t run the 40-yard dash during the combine, he participated in many other drills.
Smith-Njigba was said to be the number one wide receiver heading into the combine, and his status hasn’t changed, at least to Carter.
Ohio State has produced several impressive receivers in the past several seasons, including Garrett Wilson and Chris Olave from the 2022 draft.
Wilson and Olave went 10th and 11th overall last season, respectively.
Will Smith-Njigba be able to vault himself past his former teammates?
During his 2021 season at Ohio State, Smith-Njigba put up 1,606 receiving yards, 95 receptions, and nine touchdowns.
That was with Wilson and Olave on the team.
He suffered a hamstring injury during the 2022 season, playing in just three games.
However, his performance at the combine indicated that he is back and better than ever.
Ohio State’s pro day is rapidly approaching, and he will once again have an opportunity to showcase his skills to scouts from teams across the league.
