Chiefs Player Pledges His Loyalty To Franchise

With every single team in the National Football League looking to get better ahead of the new league year, it seems like they won’t be able to negotiate with one rumored trade candidate: DT Chris Jones.

The Kansas City Chiefs are looking to make moves to try and get even better, but they’re already way below the salary cap after GM Brett Veach put together a masterclass last season.

Still, the Chiefs could take even more financial pressure off their shoulders if they restructure Patrick Mahomes’ contract.

They could also try and sign a contract extension with their defensive star Jones, who’s entering the final year of his contract and recently shed light on his plans for the future.

Jones took to Twitter to respond to a fan that asked him about a potential contract extension, stating that he’s going to be a Chiefs player for life.

I’m a chief for life. I will not play for another franchise

Notably, this isn’t the first time that the DT has hinted at the possibility of staying with the organization for the long run.

He claimed that his contract extension would work itself out eventually and didn’t seem slightly worried about that.

Jones is coming off one of the best seasons of his career, finishing third in the Defensive Player of the Year race.

He’s been an example of work ethic, durability, and elite talent, earning his first-team All-Pro selection after logging 15.5 sacks in 17 games (all starts).

As of now, experts project Jones’ salary to be worth around $30 million a year.

Needless to say, that sets the table for a historically big deal for a player in his position, but he’s proven to be every single penny thus far.
