After being suspended for the entire 2022 NFL season for gambling on games, wide receiver Calvin Ridley has been reinstated.

During his suspension, the Atlanta Falcons traded him to the Jacksonville Jaguars, which has put him on one of the league’s most promising young teams.

Ridley said that he has a very lofty goal moving forward — to record 1,400 receiving yards a season.

Ridley last played a full season in 2020, when he put up 1,374 yards and nine touchdowns.

He played five games the following season before stepping away for the remainder of the schedule for mental health reasons.

Upon his reinstatement on Monday, Ridley issued a statement in which he called his suspension “self-inflicted” and said he was excited about what lay ahead for him.

He will give Jacksonville another bona fide offensive threat to go along with fellow wideout Christian Kirk and running back Travis Etienne.

The team started the 2022 season 2-6, but with second-year quarterback Trevor Lawrence rapidly improving, the team ended the schedule with a five-game winning streak and finished first in the AFC South.

The Jaguars then staged an incredible comeback in their wild-card playoff contest against the Los Angeles Chargers by overcoming a 27-0 deficit to win on a last-second field goal.

With one of the youngest cores in the NFL, the sky seems to be the limit for them in the coming years, and as long as Ridley regains the form he displayed in 2020, perhaps they can seriously contend for their first-ever Super Bowl championship in the near future.
