The 2023 NFL Draft is rapidly approaching.

With many quarterback-needy teams, and only a few blue-chip prospects at the position, the weeks leading up to the draft should provide drama and excitement.

One prospect in particular, Bryce Young, is one of the most polarizing incoming players.

While many have criticized Young for his small stature, others believe that Young possesses the tools to be the newest leader of an NFL franchise.

Todd McShay, one of the NFL’s leading draft experts, recently compared Young to one of the NFL’s best quarterbacks.

“To me, he’s a smaller Patrick Mahomes,” said McShay.

“To me, [Bryce Young] is a smaller Patrick Mahomes.”

During a segment on Get Up, one of ESPN’s main shows, McShay provides several examples as to why Young reminds him of Mahomes.

McShay cites his poise and slow approach to the game as two main talking points for Young’s potential brilliance.

At the combine, Young measured at 5-foot-10 and 204 pounds, which would make him the lightest quarterback ever drafted in the first round of the NFL.

However, as McShay and many other analysts have dictated, it’s tough to overlook Young’s collegiate production.

Winner of the 2021 Heisman Trophy, Young threw for 8,356 career yards at the University of Alabama.

He also amassed 80 total touchdowns, and threw just 12 interceptions, ending his collegiate career with an average completion percentage of 65.8.

Will Young’s size hurt his overall draft stock?

If NFL teams have a similar scouting report on him to McShay, Young is likely to be a top-five draft pick and has the potential to go first overall.
