This week, the Los Angeles Rams released star inside linebacker Bobby Wagner in what was reportedly a cost-cutting move.

Even though he is 32 years of age, he is still considered one of the best NFL players at his position, and he will surely be one of the hottest free agents on the market in March.

Wagner currently has the longest active streak of most consecutive seasons named to either the All-Pro first or second-team, and it is a streak he is hoping to keep intact with his next team.

The Los Angeles native spent his first 10 seasons with the Seattle Seahawks, where he was a major franchise cornerstone for head coach Pete Carroll.

With Wagner developing into a force, Seattle won the Super Bowl in the 2013 season while finishing first in points and total yards allowed, and he started his impressive All-Pro streak the following year.

He also began a streak of eight straight Pro Bowl selections in 2014, although that streak was snapped this season.

Still, he managed to record five passes defended, two interceptions, 10 quarterback hits, and 10 tackles for loss in his lone season for the Rams.

Wagner’s defensive abilities, not to mention his experience as a Super Bowl champion, will prove to be very valuable for one lucky team next season.

Meanwhile, the Rams will be losing a star linebacker for the second straight offseason.

Last March, Von Miller, who was the final piece for their championship team in 2021, left to join the Buffalo Bills.

With Wagner gone and star cornerback Jalen Ramsey reportedly about to be traded, L.A.’s championship window may be closing.
