The San Francisco 49ers are starting to gear up for another attempt at their sixth Super Bowl championship next season.
With defensive coordinator DeMeco Ryans leaving to become the head coach of the Houston Texans, they hired Steve Wilks to replace him, and on Thursday, they brought in Klint Kubiak to play a top role on the offensive side of the ball.
The #49ers are hiring Klint Kubiak to a top role on Kyle Shanahan’s offensive staff, replacing Bobby Slowik, per sources.

Kubiak spent this season as the passing game coordinator and quarterback coach for the Denver Broncos, which is something that may give Niners fans some pause.
The Broncos, despite the presence of future Hall of Fame quarterback Russell Wilson, were last in points scored and finished with a 5-12 record.
Last season, Kubiak was the Minnesota Vikings’ offensive coordinator, and before that he was their quarterbacks coach for two seasons.
From 2016 to 2018, Kubiak was an offensive assistant for the Broncos, and he started out serving under his father, Gary Kubiak.
The 49ers started out this season was a somewhat underwhelming offense, especially after running back Elijah Mitchell suffered a sprained MCL, leaving them without any type of running attack that could open up their passing game.
But that all changed when they acquired star running back Christian McCaffrey in October.
McCaffrey, who is equally potent as a receiver as he is running the football, helped transform San Francisco’s overall offense, and with him in the lineup, they scored at least 30 points seven times.
Before he was traded to the 49ers, they reached the 30-point mark only once in six games.
The one question surrounding their offense is who will be under center come September, as starting quarterback Brock Purdy is about to have surgery for a torn UCL he sustained in their NFC Championship Game loss to the Philadelphia Eagles.
