For weeks, many have wondered what the Chicago Bears would do with the No. 1 pick in next month’s NFL Draft.
Would they keep it and draft a quarterback such as Bryce Young or C.J. Stroud, or would they trade it and opt for depth and support while sticking with Justin Fields under center?
On Friday, the football world got its answer when it was reported the Bears would be trading that pick to the Carolina Panthers for four others, one of which is a first-rounder next year, as well as wide receiver D.J. Moore.
Plenty of observers like this deal for Chicago, including FS1 analyst Joy Taylor.

“Now you can really find out what Justin Fields is,” said Taylor. “D.J. Moore is legit — ain’t nobody questioning what he’s capable of doing. So you have a guy now. You got a legit wide receiving corps. Everyone can play their role perfectly.”
Taylor also pointed out that if Fields doesn’t make strides as a passer next season, the Bears will have the draft capital to get another quarterback, either via the draft or by trading draft capital.
Fields is one of the best signal-callers when it comes to gaining yardage by himself, but he has failed to be productive when throwing the football.
He completed just 60.4 percent of his passes this past season after posting a meager 58.9 percent completion rate in 2021, which was his rookie season.
He is also turnover-prone, he threw 11 interceptions in 2022 and 10 the prior year, and he also led the league with 16 fumbles this past season.
Fields’ supporters assert that Chicago hasn’t had any real receiving threats to help him and that he was a very accurate passer in two seasons at Ohio State University.
With Moore, who had over 1,000 receiving yards in three consecutive seasons prior to 2022, on his side, maybe Fields will now get to the next level.
