Chargers GM May Have Tipped His Hand On Draft Day Plans

The Los Angeles Chargers have seven picks in the upcoming NFL Draft.

There aren’t all that many areas of improvement for the roster, but GMs wouldn’t be doing their job if they weren’t actively trying to get better every single year.

That’s the case with GM Tom Telesco, who may have hinted at the possibility of trading down to land more players in this class rather than staying put with those seven picks or looking to trade up for a star in an interview during the NFL Scouting Combine festivities in Indianapolis.

This morning on GMFB, Tom Telesco specifically hints at draft trades.

What do you mean 7 or 8, or we’ll see how many we actually have?

Notably, that’s far from a surprise, all things considered.

This NFL Draft class isn’t exactly oozing with potential or talented players, and there’s not that much out there outside of the first two rounds.

Of course, there are always some hidden gems that slide to the third day and wind up becoming stars, but GMs aren’t likely to plan their strategies around them.

The Chargers currently have the 21st pick in the first round, and it wouldn’t be a surprise to see them trade down to gather more depth.

There’s also the chance that they look to move several picks to try and get an elite wideout prospect to make up for the potential loss of Keenan Allen, but they might find plenty of competition for that.

They could use another running back for depth and some more help on the defensive side of the football, but they’re not likely to land any superstars in this impressive class.
