Even though some urged the New York Jets to go after Aaron Rodgers, the latest turn of events makes us all think that they’ll go after Derek Carr instead.

Even oddsmakers tend to think that Carr will be a Jet next season, giving him the best odds (+300) among all potential suitors, per NBC Sports.

The New Orleans Saints (+330), Tampa Bay Buccaneers (+450), Carolina Panthers (+500), and Tennessee Titans (+700) are also reportedly in the mix to acquire his services.

Carr has already visited both the Jets and the Saints, leaving with positive feelings after both meetings.

The Jets were a good quarterback away from making the playoffs last season, boasting one of the best defenses in the AFC and a promising offensive core featuring Breece Hall and Offensive Rookie of the Year Garrett Wilson.

It’s become evident that they can no longer wait and hope for Zach Wilson to figure things out and prove that he could be a franchise player.

Carr is one of the best players available in free agency, and they have more than enough money to make things work.

Also, trading for a superstar like Rodgers could force them to give up multiple valuable assets, not to mention his steep salary, and how that could affect their chemistry.

As great as Rodgers is, he’s not exactly patient with young players, and his leadership skills have left a lot to be desired as of late.

So, Carr will likely have another chance to prove that he’s far from done in this league, this time with a much better team.
