The Giants Are Releasing A Veteran Wide Receiver

In a stunning move, the New York Giants have released one of their wide receivers.

Although Daniel Jones took a big leap forward in his second NFL season, many have pointed to a lack of wide receiver depth as an inhibitor of his success.

Losing a veteran at any position can be devastating, especially at wide receiver.

Kenny Golladay has been released by the Giants.

This is just one of several impending moves by the Giants en route to getting under the salary cap.

Golladay was one of the league’s best wide receivers in 2019, contributing 116 receptions for 1,190 yards and 11 touchdowns.

However, he has taken a rapid dropoff since, largely a result of his nagging hamstring injury.

The Giants signed Golladay to a four-year, $72 million deal, but it hasn’t panned out.

In his two seasons with the Giants, Golladay had just 93 receptions, 602 yards, and one touchdown.

Golladay’s time with the Giants is now done.

For Golladay’s sake, we certainly hope that he will be able to play up to his old abilities, recovering from his injuries.

However, the Giants now have a hole at the wide receiver position.

They were able to find something with Isaiah Hodgins late in the season, but the Giants are lacking a true number-one receiving option.

By clearing space with Golladay’s contract, hopefully, the Giants will be able to sign a budget free-agent.

Jones is still in contract negotiations with the Giants, but it appears that the team wants him to be a part of their future.

Will the Giants make adequate moves at the receiver position to do so?
