The Lions Are Cutting A Veteran Defensive Lineman

The Detroit Lions are on the shortlist of teams that surprised the most in 2022.

No one expected them to contend for a playoff spot after finishing 2021 with the second-worst record in the league.

But, credit must be given to head coach Dan Campbell, who has done a tremendous job.

It seems like all of the Lions players love Campbell and have completely bought into what he is selling.

Detroit missed the playoffs this past season due to a tiebreaker they lost to the Seattle Seahawks.

The Lions had a 9-8 record and consistently played well week in and week out.

Their biggest downfall was on the defensive side of the ball.

Giving up 25.1 points per game is rarely going to cut it in the NFL.

That number was third worst in the league, and the Lions seemingly had to win shoot-outs every week.

But, they are looking to revamp their defense this offseason.

First, they started by releasing a veteran defensive lineman making too much money.

Lions released DL Michael Brockers, saving $10 million against their salary cap.

Michael Brockers played in only six games last season for the Lions.

They felt the $10 million in cap space was well worth releasing the 32-year-old lineman.

Detroit should be looking to make some big moves this offseason.

The NFC North is wide open, especially if Aaron Rodgers leaves Green Bay.

There is no question the Lions could win the division next season.

Also, the Lions have two top draft picks at sixth and 18th overall.

If they hit on those two picks look for their roster to be much improved in 2023.
