The Detroit Lions were able to find great success in 2022, largely due to their coaching staff.
Success for the Lions came in the form of a winning record, something they hadn’t done since 2017.
Dan Campbell, the Lions’ head coach, was able to completely shift the culture of this organization.
The Lions will look to build upon their success in 2023 and will do so with a similar coaching staff as last year.
The #Lions are signing defensive coordinator Aaron Glenn to a contract extension, per source. Not done yet but should be soon. Glenn, who interviewed for Arizona and Indianapolis head coaching jobs this cycle, is set to be extended for multiple years.

Aaron Glenn has been retained as the Lions’ defensive coordinator.
This is great news for the organization, as they will be able to build on the success that they found in 2022.
While the offense was their best unit last season, their defense started putting things together in the back half of the season.
On the year as a whole, the defense allowed 25.7 points per game, which was tied for third-worst in the league.
However, in their last three games of the season, they allowed an average of 21 points per game, the 16th-best team in that span.
If Glenn and the defense can start the year off as strong as they finished, the Lions should be in great shape moving forward.
While they are young and largely inexperienced, the Lions do have several star players on their defense.
With another year under their belts, and a similar coaching regime, the Lions could find themselves as a sneaky playoff team in 2023.
Aaron Rodgers’ status with the Green Bay Packers is still unknown, the Minnesota Vikings collapsed in the playoffs, and the Chicago Bears don’t have a solid identity yet.
The NFC North is anyone’s game in 2023.
