The NFL free agency period is set to begin on March 15th.

There will be plenty of discussion as to which players will end up where before that time.

One quarterback has already been linked to a new team.

Jimmy Garoppolo will not be returning to the San Francisco 49ers.

But, he might be looking to join one of the 49ers’ former coaches.

According to CBS Sports, the Houston Texans are making a push to sign Garoppolo.

Sources tell CBS Sports there’s a push within the Houston #Texans building to sign veteran quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo and play him in 2023 while drafting a quarterback at some point in the first round with the plan to sit him for the year and grow. pic.twitter.com/F56hNdxYCQ

DeMeco Ryans is the new head coach in Houston, and he has seen plenty of Garoppolo.

If this does happen it would make some sense for both sides.

The Texans would have a solid starting quarterback to help teach whichever rookie they draft.

Garoppolo would have an opportunity to show all NFL teams that he can still be a franchise quarterback.

If he were to play well in Houston that could set him up for a big payday next offseason.

With the Texans selecting second overall, you would think they would just take a quarterback with that pick.

But, if they do, they would want that player to start immediately.

Either Bryce Young or C.J. Stroud would be available for the Texans and both players seemed primed to start year one.

But, the Texans also own the 12th overall pick, even though it seems likely there will not be a quarterback worth selecting at that spot.

Keep an eye on the Texans as they may look to be aggressive throughout this offseason.
